Spokane personnel demonstrate their ties to our community through a multitude of community services, including:
- Cooper Elementary. In 2013 we became the first business in the area to adopt a school to feed through the Bite2Go Program. One in every four kids in Spokane lives below the federal poverty level. We now feed over 80 children a week at Cooper Elementary. We also provide the school with mentors, reading buddies, and volunteers for activities, and we deliver winter gear and back packs to children in need. In the spring, we offer a $1,000 scholarship to a high school graduate who attended Cooper Elementary and will be attending college. The recipient returns to Cooper in the spring and speaks to sixth-graders about the experience. Annually, we give nearly $15,000 on average to support Bite2Go and other activities at the school.
- United Way. We’ve supported the United Way for more than 30 years. Employees give $35,000 annually.
- Second Harvest Food Bank. Our employees participate in a firm–hosted Day of Action during which we sort, package, and distribute food to the community. We also volunteer to build Bite2Go kits for kids that need food on the weekend.
A few other organizations we support: YMCA, Rypien Foundation, YWCA, Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure, Big Brothers Big Sisters, SpokeFest, Women Helping Women, American Cancer Society, Inland NW Land Conservancy, Second Harvest, March of Dimes, Ronald McDonald House, and the Inland Northwest Blood Center.
