Research Tax Credit

Moss Adams has developed a program to help clients maximize research tax credits available under Federal and State programs. We work with our clients to identify overlooked opportunities, evaluate the benefit available, document the qualitative and quantitative support for the credit calculation, and assist with the federal and state filings required to obtain the tax credit dollars.

Case History

An innovative Northern California winery began spending significant amounts of money developing new blends, using new processes and new packaging. The wine industry specialists in our Santa Rosa office advised the winery owners that this activity made them eligible for the federal and state Research and Experimentation Tax Credits. An engagement was performed to analyze the winery’s credit activities, resulting in more than $150,000 of federal and California credits in the first year alone. In addition, the client has benefited from the Research Tax Credit in each tax year since the initial engagement.
