Not-For-Profit/Government

Financial Statement Audits

Our audit approach for not-for-profit and government organizations is based on two key factors: extensive partner and senior manager involvement at all stages and the constant use of managers in the field to lead the overall engagement team. Unlike others, we don’t rely heavily on staff accountants in the field. Rather, our audit process is closely monitored and supervised by managers, senior managers, and partners. This assures for our clients an audit process with effective design and execution overseen by experienced practitioners, leading to a higher-quality audit.

Single Audits

We are one of the most experienced firms in conducting compliance audits in accordance with the Single Audit Act of 1984 and the U.S. Office of Management and Budget (OMB) Circular A-133 (“Audits of States, Local Governments, and Non-Profit Organizations"). According to the U.S. Census Bureau’s Single Audit Database, since 1997, professionals in our firm have conducted over 800 Single Audits for clients around the nation. In fact, many members of our group have taught classes to other auditors on how to comply with the provisions of the Single Audit Act.

Benefit Plan Audit Services

Moss Adams has a specialty practice devoted to benefit plan auditing. Our team of trained professionals has been growing our benefit plan audit practice for over 10 years. The plans range in size from 100 to 9,000 participants and $100,000 to $2 billion in assets. We audit defined contribution, defined benefit, employee stock ownership and health and welfare, VEBAs and profit sharing plans. Continuing education ensures that we remain current with respect to Employee Retirement Investment Security Act (ERISA), Department of Labor (DOL), and Internal Revenue Service (IRS) rules and regulations.
