Moss Adams Sponsors Project Run With It

The Moss Adams Foundation recently agreed to sponsor Beta Alpha Psi’s Project Run With It, a case competition combining real life and academic elements. Contributions will total $20,000 a year for 2008 and 2009.
Beta Alpha Psi, an honorary organization for students in accounting, information technology and finance programs, launched Project Run With It this year. A maximum of 60 students will work in teams of four, each working with a different not-for-profit company. Each NFP will present actual technology and financial problems in need of solutions.
After reviewing the problems presented, each team will choose the issue they would like to solve and have approximately 12 hours to fully research the issue and put together a full-quality presentation.
Russ Wilson, Bellingham office managing partner and chair of the Moss Adams Foundation Board, said, “The Moss Adams Foundation is extremely excited to be increasing the firm's exposure and presence with BAP nationally through the sponsorship of this competition. Today's students want opportunities to showcase their skills and abilities now, and Project Run With It will provide a great opportunity to do just that.”
Project Run With It kicks off at the BAP annual meeting in Anaheim, Calif. on Aug. 7, 2008. On Aug. 8, a team of five judges, made up of a representative from each NFP, a faculty member and a partner from Moss Adams, will review presentations made by each team. The judges will award three winning teams with a total of $12,000 in chapter awards.
Moss Adams benefits greatly from sponsoring an event like Project Run With It. Chris Schmidt, president and chief operating officer, agrees. “The accounting industry has benefited greatly over the years hiring outstanding students that are members of BAP.
