What Makes Us a Healthiest Employer?

The Business Journal recognized the Moss Adams San Diego office as a healthiest employer at the first annual San Diego’s Healthiest Employers event on March 17, 2010.
More than 300 people attended the event at the Torrey Pines Hilton to recognize 50 companies from across the region as healthiest employers. The top three winners from small, medium, and large companies, and from non-profits took the first place honor.
To qualify as finalists, nominees answered a 136-question online survey about wellness programs, activities, policies, and why they felt their company should be recognized as a healthiest employer. Although Moss Adams LLP did not take first place, we are pleased to share what the San Diego office provides to promote our people’s well-being:
- Five-minute podcasts on health-related topics, such as flu and cold symptoms, how to get a great night of sleep, signs of depression, stress management and bereavement, and more
- Access to Cigna Healthcare’s call centers, certified by J.D. Power and Associates for providing "an outstanding customer service experience" for a fourth consecutive year. The call centers provide 24-hour customer care service 365 days a year for questions about health and wellness management
- A Quicken online Health Expense Tracker, offered by Cigna
- Free seasonal and H1N1 flu shots
- In our restrooms, longer-running, hotter water and trash cans at the door to encourage proper hand washing and sanitation
- Free on-site Saturday childcare during peak times to balance commitments
- Massage services for every employee each month during busy season
- Free on-site gym facilities
- Sports league memberships
- Ergonomic workstations and office equipment
- Community service and office event committees to organize recreation and charitable development
- A CPR-certified safety team trained to use defibrillators. The office will also pay for each employee to be certified
- Hand sanitizers and germ-killing cleaners for use around the office
- Health tips and green living and environmental tips in the monthly San Diego office newsletter, PILLAR Post
- Healthier juice and tea selections
- Air vent covers to adjust air flow
- A culture of encouraging personal time off (PTO) and monitoring PTO usage for a better work/life balance
- Online resources for adoption, legal aid, prenatal care, and pet care
