Moss Adams Sponsors Third Annual LA Fashion Awards

Moss Adams clients featured prominently in the third annual LA Fashion Awards, held on October 26, 2007, at the historic Orpheum Theatre in downtown Los Angeles.
Runway shows of five fashion presentations featured Moss Adams Fashion Innovator nominees Jasmin Shokrian, Juan Carlos Obando, Rami Kashou, Thomas Wylde and a finale presentation by BCBG Max Azria. Rob Greenspan, managing partner of Moss Adams' Los Angeles office, presented the evening’s top MAFI award to Juan Carlos Obando.
Mr. Greenspan and Martin Hughes, chair of Moss Adams' apparel industry group, created the MAFI award in 2003 to recognize emerging talent and rising stars in the Los Angeles fashion industry. "Moss Adams LLP has been representing apparel, textile and fashion companies in Los Angeles for over 30 years," Mr. Greenspan noted as he presented the award. "[This award] is our way of giving something back to this industry."
The nominating committee of more than 40 West Coast fashion experts (top fashion editors, retailers, stylists and designers) included three other Moss Adams clients among their nominees for the remaining awards:
- J Brand became the Supima Denim Designer of the Year, a new award this year. Other nominees included GoldSign, Oligo Tissew, Paige Premium, and Moss Adams client 7 for All Mankind.
- Tarina Tarantino accepted the Marketing Excellence Award for Guess by Marciano, which beat out L.A. Eyworks, Kitson, and Moss Adams client BCBG Max Azria.
- Moss Adams client Fred Segal took home the Fashion Retailer of the Year Award.
- Max Azria won the Wells Fargo Century Fashion Achievement Award.
- Rose Apodaca, the 2005 Fashion Communications Award winner, presented this award to DailyCandy.
- The Inspiration Award went to “Project Runway.”
Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa kicked off the evening by acknowledging the contributions Los Angeles’ manufacturers and designers make to the Southern California economy. Debbie Matenopoulos (E! Entertainment Television) hosted the show, which was produced by Mary Hill and Jen Uner and sponsored by Moss Adams (founding sponsor), Saturn, Los Angeles Times, Los Angeles magazine, Flaunt Magazine, California Apparel News, NASDAQ, and many others.
