Michael Bernstein Joins Moss Adams as Director of Hospital Operations
Effective November 17, 2008, Michael Bernstein has joined Moss Adams as director of hospital operations to help our health care clients identify opportunities to enhance profitability and operational performance, including compliance within the revenue cycle. Working out of our Everett office, Mr. Bernstein brings extensive health care financial and strategic management experience to Moss Adams and expands our hospital consulting competencies.
A Certified Public Accountant with more than 30 years of experience in health care financial and strategic management, Mr. Bernstein served most recently as senior vice president and chief financial officer of Valley Medical Center in Renton, Washington. Previously, he served as senior vice president of finance for Eisenhower Medical Center in Rancho Mirage, California; interim chief executive officer and senior vice president for the Palomar-Pomerado Health System in San Diego; and senior vice president of finance at Centinela Hospital in Los Angeles.
Mr. Bernstein received his bachelor’s degree in business administration from California State University, Northridge. He is a current member of both the Healthcare Financial Management Association and the Council of Healthcare Advisors at Gerson Lehrman Group. In addition, he has served as a board member of the Renton Community Foundation and as president of the Hospital Shared Services Association, a nonprofit purchasing cooperative. Mr. Bernstein has spoken nationally on various health care financial topics, most recently as a featured speaker at the 2008 Moss Adams Health Care Education Conference held in Phoenix on December 3–5.
