Transferring licenses
The licensing mechanism built into Profit Mentor allows for easy user transferring of licenses between computers. This is useful, for instance, if you were setting up a new machine for your use, or perhaps you want to transfer your license to a laptop to take it on the road.
The first step in transferring your license is to install Profit Mentor on the target machine. Once installed, open up the licensing information screen (from the Help menu bar options) on the target machine and write down the serial number that was assigned to this machine. Return to your machine with the original installation, and open up its License Information screen. We’ll call this the “host” machine. Here you will key in the serial number from the target machine into the appropriate field and click on the Transfer button. This will generate an activation code displayed in the “Target PC’s Activation Code” field. Write down this code, return to your target machine, and key in this new activation code. This will activate your target machine’s Profit Mentor installation and de-activate the original installation on your “host” machine. This process will not uninstall Profit Mentor from your original machine, nor will it disable any Profit Mentor data files. It will simply de-activate your original installation leaving you unable to run the Profit Mentor application. You can reactive this installation by transferring your license back, from your target machine or purchase a new license with a new activation code.
If you forget or lose the target machine’s activation code once you’ve transferred you license, simply start Profit Mentor on the “host” machine. This will cause the license information screen to appear, where the target machine’s activation code will be displayed for you.
