Mary Heymans, Managing Director & Senior Advisor, Physician and Advanced Practice Provider Services, Gallagher

Mary Heymans is a Managing Director & Senior Advisor with the Physician and Advanced Practice Provider Services service line of Gallagher’s Human Resources & Compensation Consulting practice. She has over 20 years of experience working in the health care industry, including professional consulting for health care organizations and physician practice management. Heymans has significant professional consulting experience in a variety of areas ranging from physician network development to practice operational improvement projects. Her current focus includes physician total compensation compliance audits, market research and surveys, the design and administration of new compensation systems, pay incentive systems, and performance management system redesign. She serves clients nationally, including large multi-specialty clinics, large and small healthcare systems, prestigious academic medical centers, and children’s healthcare organizations. Heymans previously oversaw a 10-state operation for a national physician practice management company. In this role she was responsible for contract negotiations and overseeing approximately 400 physicians and numerous support staff for the region.

William F. Jessee, MD, FACMPE, Managing Director & Senior Advisor, Human Resources & Compensation Consulting Practice, Gallagher

William F. Jessee joined Gallagher’s practice in 2011, after serving for more than 12 years as president and CEO of the Medical Group Management Association (MGMA). Jessee is one of the nation’s leading experts on physician services management and hospital-physician integration. He’s skilled in the development and implementation of strategies for creating aligned economic interests among physicians, hospitals and payers. He’s also widely recognized as an expert on health policy issues and the role of governance in quality improvement and patient safety. Prior to MGMA, Jessee was vice president for Quality and Managed Care Standards at the American Medical Association. His experience also includes service as CEO of a regional integrated delivery system in Louisville, Kentucky; as a vice president of the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations; and as corporate vice president for quality management at Humana Inc. Additionally, Jessee was a full time academician as associate professor of health policy and administration at the University of North Carolina, School of Public Health, Chapel Hill.

Kirk Jenkins, Senior Vice President of Physician Network, Lexington Medical Center

Kirk Jenkins has been the SVP of Physician Network at Lexington Medical Center since May, 2013. He joined the organization as an Assistant Vice President in the Physician Network and assumed his current position in August, 2015. Prior to joining Lexington Medical Center, Mr. Jenkins served as a healthcare administrator in the United States Air Force. Mr. Jenkins received a Bachelor of Science degree from The Citadel, a Master’s degree in Business Administration from Clemson University, and is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives.

Brian Conner, CPA, Partner, National Health Care Practice Leader, Hospitals Practice, Moss Adams

Brian Conner has practiced public accounting since 1993, providing audit, tax, and consulting services to integrated health systems, hospitals, ancillary providers, mental and convalescent health facilities, and medical groups. Conner has extensive experience in providing advice and counsel in areas of audits, financial reporting, and tax-exempt financings. He performs technical reviews for other health care clients of the firm and has served as an instructor and lecturer for the firm’s Health Care Practice. Conner holds several leadership roles including national practice leader for hospitals and as a member of the firm’s health care executive committee. He is the former chair of the Health Care Financial Management’s (HFMA) Principles and Practice Board and is a current member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants’ (AICPA) Health Care Entities Expert Panel.

Kathryn Bowen, Area Vice-President, Gallagher

Kathryn Bowen is an area vice-president at Arthur J Gallagher & Co. Insurance Services of CA, Inc. who specializes in Provider Stop Loss, HMO and ACO reinsurance. As part of Gallagher’s Healthcare niche, Kathryn works with clients and account teams throughout the country on issues involving Provider and Health Plan Risk bearing reduction strategies. During her tenure at Gallagher since 2014, Kathryn has provided guidance on strategic assessment, data analytics, claims management, and policy placement involving risk mitigation strategies for RBOs including physician practices, hospitals, integrated delivery networks, ACOs and health plans. Prior to joining Gallagher, Kathryn was a principal in Madison Risk & Insurance Services, Inc. (1994–2014). She worked specifically with health care entities in regards to risk bearing mitigation stop loss, medical malpractice, management liability, errors & omissions, property, casualty, cyber and group health benefits.
