Many states changed their laws this year to generate more tax revenue from out-of-state companies, creating potential tax implications for technology, communications and media, and life sciences companies. Companies should be diligent about identifying changes in their income tax, sales and use tax, or other tax exposure.

Anna Ferraro, Director, has been handling multistate sales and use tax transactions since 1992. She provides sales and use tax transaction planning and compliance, including transaction structuring, determination of product and service taxability, and creation of tools to assist clients with sales and use taxes in daily operations.

John Clausen, Director, Moss Adams

John Clausen, Director, has consulted with clients on state and local income and franchise tax matters since 2004. He assists clients in identifying and implementing state tax planning opportunities, managing state tax filing requirements, and managing audits by tax authorities. He has worked closely with clients in interpreting and applying state apportionment rules as they relate to companies with multi-jurisdictional business operations.

Mark Hawkins, Director, has been consulting in state and local tax matters since 2001. He provides tax advisory services, planning expertise, and controversy assistance to clients in a wide array of industries, including software and technology. Mark also assists clients in their state and local tax compliance functions and during audits and examinations, and he represents them in administrative proceedings with state revenue authorities.

Richard Croghan, Partner, has been in public accounting since 1991. He primarily serves small and midsize life science, technology, and health care organizations. He provides tax and consulting services related to tax return preparation, research and development tax credits, international tax planning, state and local tax planning, tax accounting methods, and mergers, acquisitions, and reorganizations.
