Biography

Bill has consulted on international tax matters since 1986. His practice encompasses business, transaction, and international tax advice. Mr. Braunberger advises US and foreign corporations, partnerships, and individuals in tax and business planning matters. He regularly consults with clients on the potential tax implications for cross-border operations and investment transactions for a variety of companies ranging from high technology, manufacturing, real estate, foreign investment funds, professional firms, athletes, and entertainers.

Bill has developed many areas of specialized knowledge and experience in the tax field, including:

  • International taxation, including both inbound and outbound transactions of US and foreign businesses and individuals

  • State taxation issues, including analyzing new business locations and income allocation involving multistate business activities

  • Corporate, limited liability company, and partnership taxation, including formations, reorganizations, and liquidations

  • Acquisition and disposition consulting, including aiding in the structuring of transactions to increase both economic and tax benefits

  • Real estate tax issues, including deferred like-kind exchanges, involuntary conversions, and development activities engaged in for either investment or business purposes

  • Multistate and international business and tax issues of software development and other high-technology companies

  • Advised US electrical parts manufacturer on structuring joint venture in the People’s Republic of China

  • Provided tax advice to US private equity fund purchasing Canadian technology company

  • Provided tax advice on sale of North American telecommunications company to venture capital firm

  • Act as financial resource to global specialty engineering firm on European and Asia expansion

  • Represent UK, Australian, Canadian, and US athletes and entertainers on foreign and domestic tax matters

  • Provide tax advice and compliance services to foreign investment and sovereign government funds investing in US corporate and partnership joint ventures

  • Regularly consult with US and foreign legal counsel on IRS offshore voluntary disclosure program  filings

  • Advise on the sale of an internet retail business with related wholesale distribution facility

  • Restructure multistate gold and silver assets in furtherance of a multi-jurisdiction  IPO
