SEATTLE, May 7, 2025—Moss Adams, one of the largest accounting, consulting and wealth management firms in the nation, announced Andy Mattson has been named a member of the Tax Executive Committee and Strategic Tax Reform Advisory Group for the Association of International Certified Professional Accountants (AICPA), the global voice of the accounting and finance profession. Mattson is the first Moss Adams partner to be named to the AICPA Tax Executive Committee.
Mattson and his cohorts on the AICPA’s Tax Executive Committee will be responsible for approving all AICPA tax policy positions and statements on standards for tax services, monitoring tax legislative and regulations and recommending modifications to simplify tax law and tax regulatory guidance. The committee is the only body in the AICPA Tax Division that can work directly with the IRS, Treasury, Congress and other government officials. This is Mattson’s second stint with the AICPA Tax Executive Committee—previously serving from 2006 to 2008.
In addition to being on the Tax Executive Committee, Mattson will serve as one of the ten members of the AICPA Strategic Tax Reform Advisory Group. The group will navigate the complexities of 2025 tax reform and legislation, focusing on top advocacy priorities and producing thought leadership content. The group will work to ensure CPA tax professionals remain the premier providers of tax services with timely and impactful guidance.
“Moss Adams is thrilled to see Andy continue to establish himself as a leader in the accounting and financial world,” said Michael Hall, tax managing partner at Moss Adams. “We’re proud to have a leader such as Andy at the firm. He will add indispensable value to the two prestigious AICPA groups.”
Mattson brings almost 40 years of experience in corporate, partnership, individual tax and compensation planning, stock option taxation and planning, and international taxation to the two AICPA groups. Mattson has worked as a tax professional since 1985 and has served the AICPA for over 25 years as an appointed member of multiple committees and technical resource panels.
“It’s an honor to be selected as a member for both the AICPA Tax Executive Committee and Strategic Tax Reform Advisory Group,” said Mattson. “These appointments will help us stay on top of the ever-changing environment. Our goal will be to provide guidance and maintain the highest ethical standards in tax. We want to provide CPAs with quality and simplified information on complex tax reforms and regulations, and position members as leaders in the accounting and financial space.”
Mattson also serves as the chair of the Committee on Taxation for the California Society of CPAs (CalCPA), the largest state association of CPAs in the United States.
