2017 Compliance Supplement and Uniform Guidance FAQ Update

The Office of Management and Budget (OMB) announced the availability of its 2017 Compliance Supplement in the Federal Register on August 14. The supplement—codified under Title 2 of the Code of Federal Regulations, Chapter 2, Part 200 (2 CFR 200), Appendix XI—is effective for audits of fiscal years beginning after June 30, 2016. It contains a number of changes that affect the following types of entities that receive federal awards or grants:

  • States
  • Local governments
  • Indian tribes
  • Institutions of higher education
  • Not-for-profits

The Federal Register notice highlights some of the changes. A more complete list of changes is listed in appendix V of the supplement.

Uniform Guidance FAQ Update

The OMB also released an update to its frequently asked questions document in July, 2017. The update includes answers to new questions as well as revisions to certain questions and answers included in previous versions of the FAQ.
