$374.9 Million to Enhance State, Local, and Tribal Cybersecurity Funding

The Department of Homeland Security announced $374.9 million of additional funding as part of the second year of the State and Local Cybersecurity Grant Program (SLCGP) in August 2023.

Applications opened on August 7, 2023, and eligible entities need to apply before the October 6, 2023 deadline via grants.gov and Non-Disaster (ND) Grants system.

Background on SLGCP

With increasingly sophisticated cybersecurity threats to critical infrastructure and the general public, funds from the SLCGP and the Tribal Cybersecurity Grant Program (TCGP) help eligible groups address cybersecurity risks and threats to information systems owned or operated by state, local, and Tribal governments.

The SLCGP was created under the Bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, providing $1 billion in funding to SLT partners over the course of four years.

The Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) awarded $185 million in August 2022 during the program’s first year. Through its partnership with FEMA, CISA is helping organizations across the United States to increase their cyber resilience.
