Josh Grossman, Principal, Baker Tilly

Since starting his career as a tax practitioner, Josh has specialized in California income tax consulting and controversy matters, including California refund reviews and strategic refund claims, Franchise Tax Board (FTB) audit defense, protesting FTB assessments, settlement and closing agreement negotiations, and appeals before California’s administrative Office of Tax Appeals.

Beyond California-specific consulting, Josh has also handled a wide array of multistate income tax matters including general income tax audit defense, large scale voluntary disclosure projects, ruling requests, nexus studies, and market-based sourcing studies.

His industry areas of focus have included banking and financial services, insurance, investment management, and the media and entertainment sectors.

Syed Rizvi, CPA, Principal, Baker Tilly

Syed has practiced public accounting since 2008. He has extensive experience providing accounting and consulting services to alternative investment funds, including private equity, venture capital, hedge, credit, and real estate funds. He also has experience providing accounting services to corporate offices of alternative investment funds.

Syed has advised executive management of alternative investment funds on operational matters, regulatory compliance, and accounting topics related to consolidation, revenue recognition, uncertain tax on foreign investments, derivatives, and fair value measurement. He also has significant experience in valuation of private equity, real estate, and credit assets.

Leo Miki, Managing Director, Baker Tilly

Leo has provided valuation services since 2006. He specializes in financial and risk advisory and performs valuation and financial analyses for a wide variety of purposes including tax reporting, financial reporting, estate planning, and collateral valuation purposes.

Leo has extensive experience in identifying and pursuing new business opportunities while managing client relationships and overseeing cross-functional projects. His primary focus is the energy and infrastructure industry but also works with clients in consumer products, mining, technology, construction, and other industries.

Brett Sproul, CPA, Director, Baker Tilly

Brett has practiced accounting since 2014 and has experience in audit, M&A, and financial due diligence. He assists middle-market companies, private equity groups, and investment banks with financial and operational due diligence.

Brett has served clients in a variety of industries, with a focus on manufacturing and distribution, e-commerce, construction, technology, aerospace, and real estate.

Dylan Peters, CPA, Senior Manager, Baker Tilly

Dylan has practiced public accounting since 2014. He manages financial statement and regulatory compliance audits for broker-dealers, registered investment advisors, trust banks, and pooled investment vehicles such as hedge funds, private equity funds, and venture capital funds.

Dylan is well versed in accounting and auditing issues unique to these industry sectors, including the evaluation of a variety of internal control structures, investment portfolios, fair value measurements, and compensation arrangements in a regulatory environment.

Dylan also has experience in financial statement audits for employee benefit plans including 401(k), 403(b), defined benefit pension, and health and welfare plans.

Ashley Sievers, CPA, Senior Manager, Baker Tilly

Ashley has practiced public accounting since 2015. In the first part of her career, she served SEC and financial services companies in an external audit capacity. More recently, she’s focused on tax services for venture capital, private equity, and real estate funds where she specializes in complex international and multistate reporting for investment funds and management companies.
